August Alsina hasn’t died, but a bogus rumor is
going around saying he’s dead. He’s alive and
well.
The origin of the bunk report is from fake news
site NewsBuzzDaily, which has an article titled,
“Rest in Peace August Alsina,” and it shows a
photo of him in the hospital. A few months ago,
Alsina was hospitalized for a few days after
collapsing on stage, but he was released. On
Twitter, the bunk report took a life of its own,
with users simply tweeting “RIP August Alsina”
and making claims that he died.
NewsBuzzDaily’s disclaimer says it is a
“combination of real shocking news and satire
news,” whatever that’s supposed to mean. It
shouldn’t be taken seriously as a news source.

Alsina, who is currently on tour, last tweeted a
few days ago.
In case you didn’t know, he’s a singer from New
Orleans who released his debut album in April
2014.
The fake NewsBuzzDaily article reads in part:
“Singer August Alsina has passed away earlier
this morning after waking up from a three day
coma. August Alsina was hospitalized last week
following an onstage fall during a concert.
Medical experts say that Alsina was dehydrated
and suffered a serious drug overdose. He tested
positive for a cocktail of narcotics including
cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin and
MDMA. He also suffered a traumatic brain injury
as a result of the fall, placing him in a dangerous
coma. It has been reported that he also suffered
a series of seizures before falling out of
consciousness into a coma.”
Again, the whole thing is fake.
